Prosecution Against Protestors Begins
Legal proceedings began today in the prosecution of 29 people involved in Monday's Greenpeace protest at the Forsmark nuclear power plant, just north of Stockholm. They are suspected of aggravated trespassing and entering a restricted area.
Most of the activists in custody are foreign citizens. The court will decide whether any of the suspects should be held in custody any longer. All suspects have sat in custody since Monday's protest.
Greenpeace demonstrators climbed to the roof of one of the nuclear reactor buildings at Forsmark on the coast north of Stockholm in a protest over the parliamentary vote to replace aging atomic reactors.
