Svanberg to Skip Royal Wedding
BP chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg won't be attending Crown Princess Victoria's wedding in Stockholm on Saturday, despite being invited.
Instead he is to head down to the Gulf of Mexico, to see the effect the huge oil spill is having on the local community there.
Speaking to Swedish TV news he admitted that the oil company was in trouble, but didn't think now was the right time for any one to lose their job over the spill, which has been ongoing since April.
"We're like a ship sailing through a storm, and we have to get through the storm. This isn't the time to talk about changing the captain", he said.
He also apologised once again for using the phrase "small people" following his meeting with President Obama Wednesday.
"It was a badly chosen phrase. I'm a Swede and even if my English is OK, I don't always get the nuances right", he told the TV station.
