They have waited over nine years, but today sees the marriage between Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria, and her fiancé Daniel Westling.

Crown Princess Victoria is the oldest child of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia and first in line to the throne of Sweden. Daniel is a gym owner and personal trainer from a small town in the north of the country.

They first met when Victoria signed up to one of Daniel Westling's exclusive gyms in the heart of Stockholm in 2001. A professional relationship between a personal trainer and his royal client soon turned into friendship, and eventually love.

But it took a long time for the relationship to become official, they only got engaged in 2009. Some put the delay down to King Carl Gustav's uncertainty about the match, others say Victoria wanted to take things slowly.

Daniel is described as being honest, but reserved, and has only give a handful of interviews to the media since being involved with the heiress to the Swedish throne. Jenny Alexandersson, royal correspondent at the tabloid Aftonbladet, says the King was impressed by Daniel's loyalty to the family.

This is the first time a male "commoner" has married into the Swedish royal family, according to Alexandersson, "A historic event", she calls it.
