Heart Patients at Risk

Published onsdag 6 oktober 2010 kl 11.24
It is the work after the operation that is being criticised

A report from the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation says that many of Sweden's 36,000 heart attack patients are at risk, due to insufficient care after they leave hospital.

According to Swedish Radio news the report says that a year after their heart attack one third of patients have dangerously high cholesterol levels, while a full 60 per cent are not getting enough exercise.

The foundation says that this puts thousands of patients at risk of another attack.

The heart-lung foundation says this is due to not enough follow-up care; for example not checking a patient's medicine or offering physical activities.
