Laptops Help Police Solve Crimes

Published fredag 8 oktober 2010 kl 18.49

The Swedish police will in the near future have the possibility to investigate less serious crimes directly on the streets by using laptops.

Instead of going back to the station to report a crime the police will be able to save both time and paper work but using the lap-tops and the new scheme will also give them more time to patrol the streets, Swedish Radio news reported Friday.

The system was first tested in Norrköping, a few hours south of Stockholm and the results were positive, according to Tommy Larsson a local police officer there.

“Open up the programme and fill in what has happened, time place and people involved,” he said. “If you have the option to finish an investigation on the scene you have more time out on the field and you are more visible.”
