Hunting

Moose hunt starts in southern Sweden

Published måndag 11 oktober 2010 kl 13.57

The moose hunt started in the middle and southern parts of Sweden on Monday and people are advised to be extra careful or avoid going into the forests while the season lasts.

The hunt started in northern Sweden almost one month ago and is still going on. An estimated 6.000 moose are expected to be killed during this year’s hunt which lasts until late January.

After a peak in the 1980s Sweden’s moose population has steadily decreased and today there are about 250.000 moose in the country. Last year 88.000 moose were killed during the hunting season.
