Doctors will ask more about your lifestyle

Drinking too much? The doctor will want to know

On Tuesday, the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare announced new guidelines for how the health service should help patients stop smoking, get more exercise, eat better and drink less alcohol.

The guidelines mean that it will become more common for doctors to ask questions about life style choices, and to prescribe a change in how we eat and care for our own health.

The head of the Swedish Medical Association welcomes the new guidelines. She tells the news agency TT that "We are currently not working as much preventative as we need to."
