Separate trial for sick net pirate

Published torsdag 14 oktober 2010 kl 14.28
Svartholm Warg (l) with co-defendent Peter Sunde (r)

The Swedish appeals court has accepted that Gottfrid Svartholm Warg was too ill to come and take part in the Pirate Bay case.

Warg and his three co-defendants are appealing against their sentence for making copyrighted works available on the Pirate Pay.

Gottfrid Svartholm Warg lives in Cambodia and his sick note was in the national language - Khmer. Now it has been translated and accepted by the court.

This means that Warg will in effect get his own trial, separate from the others. However, if they are convicted it will be of little use to him to pursue his case, according to news agency TT.
