Red Cross calls for government to stop transfer of refugees to Greece

Published torsdag 21 oktober 2010 kl 18.27

The Swedish Red Cross has demanded that the government stops transferring asylum seekers back to Greece, news agency TT reported on Thursday.

The call comes one day after the United Nations called the situation for refugees in Greece as inhumane. Neighbouring Norway stopped transferring refugees back to Greece recently after a request from the European Court of Justice.

In Sweden the migration court in Skåne, in the south, has stopped all transfers while the courts in Gothenburg and Stockholm have allowed them to continue.
