New party chairman under fire
Anti-corruption officials are to investigate a trip to France by the new party chairman of the conservative Moderate party, Sofia Arkelsten, which was paid for by the oil giant Shell.
According to news agency TT and tabloid Expressen, Shell paid for flights, hotel and food. Arkelsten says it was an educational visit and gave her a chance to speak to students, experts and politicians from around the world.
Her counterpart in the opposition Social Demcorats, Ibrahim Baylan has criticised the trip, questioning what Shell got in return for the visit, while the Green Party's Gustav Fridolin called the trip "extremely bad judgement".
