Burn-out threatens fraud police

Published fredag 29 oktober 2010 kl 17.53

The police unit in charge of fighting investment fraud was overworked and on the verge of collapse, reports news agency TT.

The unit, made up of four officers, was shut down last week by a police safety officer.

"I was worried they would all burn out", says Robert Sollare to TT.

He adds that in almost 20 years as a safety officer he's never pulled the plug on a unit like this.

The anti-fraud unit is currently handling five large investigations, concerning two thousand claimants - and another 200 cases are waiting in a pile.
