The Swedish authorities have reversed their position and are once again compiling statistics over the loss of income for those who have been phased out of sickness benefits, and are forced to turn to the social welfare office for assistance.

This comes after Minister for Social Welfare Ulf Kristersson demanded the figures.

Last week the Swedish Social Insurance Agency told Swedish Radio News that these were no longer wanted by the government.

Critics at the time claimed the center-right coalition did not want the public to know how many people were losing income because of the system, contrary to promises when it was introduced.

The Minister says that the reforms are going in the right direction, but admits that there are problems remaining.
