Online shopping by Swedes on websites outside this country increased by 67 percent last year, to more than 170 million dollars.

According to a new study by the Swedish Trade Federation, foreign purchases account for just 5 percent of Internet shopping here. One reason for the increase is the strengthening of the Swedish krona against foreign currencies over the past few months.

Nine out of those surveyed said they believe buying online is completely safe. And just as many consumers say they check the net about products before they buy, whether they shop online or in a retail store.
