Norway's stolen Eurovision stage turns up in Sweden

Published måndag 31 januari 2011 kl 13.01

The stage for this year's Norwegian Song Contest, Melodi Grand Prix, was stolen and found overnight in Sweden, reports Norwegian public service TV NRK.

The stage was being stored in trailers, after being used in the live TV show Saturday night, and was going to be rebuilt in another arena in another town for the contest's next round . But while it was parked in a car park thieves struck, driving the truck and its trailers through Sweden almost as far south as Denmark.

Swedish police are now recovering the stage, and NRK hopes it will make it back in time so their artists have something to sing on next weekend.

Sweden's contest to pick a song to represent it in this year's Eurovision Song Contest starts Saturday.
