Estate agents to try out "comparative prices"
Estate agents in Stockholm are to introduce comparative prices on the housing market, in an attempt to reverse the trend of "specially reduced prices" that attract customers, but give a completely false picture of what the flat or house actually is going to sell for.
According to the news agency TT, over 80 % of the estate agents in central Stockholm have agreed to test the system from April until the end of the year. The comparative price will be mentioned alongside the price set by the estate agent. It will be calculated by an independent company, and based on what similar flats - in terms of size, monthly fee and housing association - have sold for. If the trial proves successful, the Association of Swedish Real Estate Agents wants to make the system permanent and introduce it also in other parts of the country.
