A cold limit for mail delivery
Sweden can be a cold country in winter, especially in the north. But now a union says you can’t hand out mail or deliver newspapers no matter how cold it gets.
The postal workers’s union is calling a halt when the mercury drops to minus 38 degrees Celsius. Temperatures that low are unusual in Sweden, but this has been an unusual Winter, and temperatures last night dipped towards minus 40 in several parts of the far north.
The post office in northern Sweden says it already has a voluntary limit of minus 20 degrees, but that only covers mail carriers on mopeds.
