Julian Assange arrives for his extradition hearing

The newspaper Expressen reports that Australia’s ambassador to Sweden has expressed reservations about Wikileaks founder Julian Assange getting a fair trial here.

Assange, an Australian citizen, is currently in London fighting extradition to Sweden for questioning in connection with allegations of sexual assault and rape.

The case has reportedly prompted Australian ambassador Paul Stephens to write to Swedish Justice Minister Beatrice Ask saying that if Assange is extradited to Sweden his government expects him to be treated in accordance with the usual respect for Swedish, European, and international law.
