Parliament's cultural committee wants to investigate the financing of the TV license which pays for national public service broadcasting.

At present all households who own a television must pay a license fee.

However there are calls to review how public service broadcasting is funded after the digital revolution.

"Technical developments make it irrelevant to connect a license fee to a television, which one has today, " Social Democrat Berit Högman , the chairman of the culture committee, told the newspaper "Riksdag & Departement ."

Culture minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth will carry out her public service broadcasting spending review in the Spring.
