Ferries could face ice-blockage

Published fredag 25 februari 2011 kl 20.32

Shipping off Sweden's east coast could soon face problems due to a build up of ice, and that means both Baltic and archipelago transport could be affected.

Speaking to Swedish Radio News, oceanographer Amund Lindberg at the Swedish Meteorological Board says that all the shipping routes in the area have been affected, he has already had reports of boats stuck in the ice.

Traffik to the island of Gotland was reported by the ferry company to be proceeding according to the timetable, but that they are prepared for changes in the wind to affect this situation.
