Assange’s lawyer under investigation
The Swedish Bar Association say they will look into statements made by Björn Hurtig, the Swedish lawyer for Wikileaks’ founder Julian Assange.
The initiative was taken by the association’s secretary general, Anna Ramberg, after the British judge Howard Riddle, presiding over Assange’s extradition hearing in London, accused Hurtig of purposely misleading the court.
Hurtig initially told the court that prosecutor Marianne Ny had not done enough to reach Assange and then changed his story.
“We sent Hurtig a letter last week asking him to explain his actions,” Ramberg told news agency TT.
"In fact, I'm looking forward to explaining myself in full and in confidence to the Association," Hurtig told news agency TT.
