Sale of fighter jets to Brazil hit another hurdle

Published onsdag 2 mars 2011 kl 13.01

The sale of Swedish fighter jets, Gripen, to Brazil is likely to take even longer, if it happens at all.

Brazil’s minister of finance, Guido Mantega, said during a recent press conference that there is “no room in the budget” to buy fighter jets and that the sale is unlikely to happen this year.

Saab, the manufacturer of Gripen, is competing with a French and an American company for the lucrative contract, but the deal has already been postponed several times, reports business newspaper Dagens Industri.
