Scottish police say they have arrested a 30 year old man in Glasgow in connection with the attempted suicide attack in Stockholm in December, news agency Reuters reports.

The man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning and is not a British national, Swedish Radio News reports. According to the news agency TT he is not a Swedish national either.

In a statement on its website, the Swedish Intelligence Service Säpo, says "investigations show there may be a link between the man and the attempted terrorist attack in Stockholm on the 11th of December".

The only person to die in the attack, which took place close to a street full om Christmas shoppers in central Stockholm, was the suicide bomber himself, a Swedish national of Middle Eastern decent.

It is believed that he became an outspoken jihadist after he moved to Luton in England.
