There was Swedish disappointment as the biathlon star Helena Ekholm missed several shots in the mass start at the world championships in Russia on Saturday. Instead of the hoped-for gold, Ekholm came in number 7.  "I'm afraid I got a bit too eager," Ekholm told Swedish Television's reporter.

Winner was Magdalena Neuner, Germany.

In the men's World Champion biathlon mass start, the two top Swedes, Björn Ferry and Carl-Johan Bergman, fell through completely, ending up in 25th and 29th place out of a total of 30 contestants.

Young Fredrik Lindström gave the best result in the Swedish team, ending up in 11th place. Winning the men's title was Emil Hegle Svendsen from Norway.
