Sweden increases aid money to Libya
The Swedish government has announced that it will add an additional US$ 1.1 million in humanitarian aid money for Libya, making a total contribution of nearly US$ 10 million to the troubled country.
In a statement, the Swedish Minister for Development Cooperation, Gunilla Carlsson, called the humanitarian situation in Libya dire and noted that there are also consequences for neighboring countries.
The additional funds are earmarked for evacuating foreign nationals from Libya. Sweden has also contributed several Gripen fighter jets to help enforce the no-fly zone over Libya.
