Supreme Court to review the case

Published lördag 16 april 2011 kl 17.19

Greece’s minister of justice has demanded that the Supreme Court open the case of a Swedish woman who was raped in 2008.

The prosecutor dropped all charges against the alleged rapist since he “couldn’t rule out” that the woman had reported the man only to claim money from her insurance company.

The case has received a lot of attention in Sweden since the prosecutor also decided to charge the female victim of defamation.

A diplomat at the Greek Embassy in Stockholm was fired after he answered a letter from a Swedish man, who was angry at the way the case had been treated, by saying that the man “should be ashamed of how Swedish women behave” when they are abroad.
