Hunter charged with manslaughter
A 32 year old hunter has been charged with manslaughter after shooting to death a 71 year old man near Ljungby in southern Sweden last December with a stray bullet which had passed through the neck of a young elk she had shot.
The unfortunate victim happened to be cross country skiing when he was hit by the single bullet. The prosecutor believes the female hunter is culpable of a crime because in his words she failed to take the necessary safety precautions before firing her rifle.
At the trial, the court will visit the place where the fatal shooting happened to get a better picture.
A lawyer for the female hunter, said that the shooting should be treated as accidental.
