A man was shot dead in the street in central Gothenburg just aft nine o'clock on Saturday morning. A masked man shot several rounds before he left on a moped, Göteborgs-Posten reports online. According to the paper, the victim was a 42-year old former leader of a criminal gang, who was recently released from jail.

Chief Inspector Peter Kron at Gothenburg Police told Göteborgs-Posten that "the way in which the murder happened indicates that the perpetrator had followed his victim for a time ahead of the shooting." No suspect has been arrested as of yet, but police is looking at "a number of alternative" leads.

There are several witnesses to the shooting, but no one else than the man was shot. According to Aftonbladet, the moped was found burning not far from the scene and police confirms that they have found the vehicle. The murder weapon was also dropped by mistake or left behind close to the dead body.

This is the second time in a short period that there is a daytime shooting in a street in Gothenburg, TT reports. On Good Friday, an argument in a café on Hisingen ended up with five people being injured. One of them just happened to be there.
