Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has commented that the world is better off without Osama bin Laden.
Bildt wrote on his Twitter feed Monday, "A world without Osama Bin Laden is a better world. His hatred was a threat to us all."
On his blog Bildt says he saw the news during a London on the way home from Washington. He adds that “there will be reasons to take a closer look at the consequences” of bin Laden’s death.
Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt says that while bin Laden cannot commit more terror, the risk is not over. He tells the TT news agency that terrorism is not gone, can continue even though its foremost representative is gone.
Like Reinfeldt, Håkan Juholt, the new leader of Sweden’s opposition Social Demcrats, has commented that it would have been better if bin Laden could have been put on trial.
