Firefighters were still working on Wednesday evening to control the fire that has raged at the architectural school of the Royal Institute of Technology in central Stockholm since the morning. It is one of the biggest fires in Stockholm for several years, the news agency TT reports.

Large parts of Östermalm were covered with smoke during the day.

During the afternoon they had to blast away the roof of the building in order to help in the efforts to extinguish the fire.

The fire started in the early hours of the morning, close to where the student studios' are. No-one have been reported injured, apart from a fire fighter who injured his hand. What caused the fire is still unknown.
