Swedish police is allowed to charge organisers of sport or other events for security, unless there are special reasons why police should provide it for free, according to new guidelines from the National Police Board.

Whether or not police should charge for their services will be determined on a case by case basis and depends on what kind of event it is and what purpose it has.

The guidelines were announced after recent turmoil at several football matches. So far police have provided security for free to most sport events even though the guidelines state that they should charge.
