Gas bubbling up from the sea bed

Published onsdag 4 maj 2011 kl 21.05

Gas was bubbling out of the seabed after a research ship had done some test drilling outside Gothenburg on the west coast. This was however not the result of a new discovery,a punctured gas pipe or anything other dramatic, the news agency TT reports.

The drilling took place in an area that used to be used for landfill, where gas can appear just like it does in a compost heap. It was a bit surprising however that it bubbled for such a long time. But the gas, writes TT, has no economic value.
