Eight trains were stopped for up to two and a half hours Sunday between Stockholm and Gothenburg. The stoppage was caused by an overhead power cable that fell down on the tracks at around 10:00 AM.

The delays continue even after some traffic has resumed.

One of the two tracks was re-opened by 12:30 PM, and trains could resume travel on the line.

The authorities originally said they expected the second track would be back in operation by around 3:00 PM, but later announced a delay of several more hours.

Several thousand passengers have been affected by the delays.
