Swede misses Olympics for doping

Published onsdag 11 maj 2011 kl 14.24

One of Sweden's biggest taekwondo talents has been suspended for two years and will miss the 2012 London Olympics after testing positive for a banned substance. Swedish doping commission chairman Thore Brolin said Wednesday that 22-year-old national champion Mohammed Qatanani tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a stimulant that is banned during competition.

Swedish Olympic Committee spokesman Bjorn Folin says Qatanani was taken out of its talent program in January after test results came back positive. The Swedish doping commission ruled on the case last month. In an interview with Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet on Wednesday, Qatanani blamed the positive test on a dietary supplement.
