The death of a four-year-old boy on Sunday evening is being investigated as a possible murder. The boy went missing from a play area in Ljunby in the south of Sweden around 5 p.m. on Sunday evening. His body was then found a few hours later in a nearby forest.

Police told Swedish Radio News that murder is considered as a matter of routine in the case of a small child being found dead, partly to ensure that the investigation proceeds at the fastest possible speed.

Police say that the four-year-old was playing with older siblings when he disappeared. No information has of yet been released about what happened to the boy and police are awaiting the results of an autopsy. A forensic examination of the area is also still being conducted.
