Bleak roe is Baltic's red gold
The price of bleak roe continues to rise, something which pleases Sweden’s fishermen as this year’s haul is now underway in the Baltic Sea.
The roe now constitute a turnover of $ US 75.8 million. This year’s catch is expected to end up being in the region of 50 tons. At a price of $ US 300 per kilo, this is a profitable business. The current price represents a 10 percent increase compared to last year.
Despite the high price, bleak roe continues to sell without problem.
