Going to college is still high on the list of things that Swedes want to do. More than 202,000 people applied for programs or courses beginning in the spring – a rise of one percent from last year at this time and a record, once again.

The biggest increase in applications came from young people up to 24-years-old, which is seen as a result of the high birth rate back then, along with high youth unemployment.

As before, law and medical programs are the most popular among applicants, but a distance learning course for preschool teachers is on the top-20 list for the first time, according to the Swedish Agency for Higher Education Services.
