Alleged war criminal in court

Published onsdag 26 oktober 2011 kl 17.46

Today saw an alleged war criminal present his version of events to a court in Stockholm.

The 34-year-old Kosovan-Serb is accused of participating in a massacre of Kosovan-Albanians in 1999, which saw the death of 40 civilians.

Until today, the prosecutor and witnesses had testified to the court, but not the accused. The case will rest heavily on verbal testimony, as there is no material evidence linking the man to the events.

Defence lawyer Bertil Schultz claimed that several of the witnesses’ testimonies are weak and unreliable.

The trial is still in its preparatory stages and is expected to be held in December, reports news agency TT.
