Dawit Isakk still alive?

Dawit Isaak

Unconfirmed news reports claim that the arrested Swedish-Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak may have died in the notorious Eritrean prison where he has been held behind bars for over 10 years.

The reports are supposed to be based on reliable sources and maintain that Isaak is no longer in the jail and that three bodies were recently removed.

However, family members here in Sweden, the foreign ministry and politicians and activists long campaigning for Isaak's release reject the reports and say they believe the journalist is still alive.

Arrested after returning to Eritrea to work for a democratic press there, Isaak has been denied all contact with family and supporters for years.
