One parent's assent will be enough
The government want one parent's consent to be enough, for a child to receive psychiatric help.
Minister for Justice, Beatrice Ask, tells Swedish Radio News that too often a conflict between parents means that one says no. "Someone still needs to make a decision, based on the best interests of the child."
Currently if a parent with custody rights says no to treatment, then the child will only receive psychiatric care in very serious cases.
In a draft proposal the government want to change the law, so that social services only need one parent to say yes.
