Sweden supports EU pressure on Greece

Published lördag 5 november 2011 kl 11.59
Birgitta Ohlsson

A bankrupt Greece would be a "direct threat to the Swedish economy", says the Swedish Minister for EU Affairs.

She says that she supports the high demands placed on Greece by the EU.

Birgitta Ohlsson says to news agency TT that an uncontrolled bankruptcy by Greece would risk creating a domino-effect. She says that the recent narrow vote of confidence in the Papandreou government means that the Greece leadership have received crucial support, and that they must now simply work hard to bring in reforms to "get Greece on its feet again."
