Christer Pettersson Dies at 57

Published onsdag 29 september 2004 kl 14.52

Christer Pettersson, the man tried, convicted and then acquitted on appeal for the 1986 murder of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme has died.

Allthough cleared of the charges, Pettersson confessed to the murder several times and many here continue to believe he was responsible. Christer Pettersson was 57 years old.

According to the online edition of Aftonbladet, Pettersson recently contacted the son of the murdered Prime Minister saying he wanted to tell the Palme family something. Palme’s son was prepared to meet with Christer Pettersson, but did not manage to speak with Pettersson before his death.
