More women who can’t work for health reasons during pregnancy should receive financial compensation, Swedish news agency TT reports.

According to a review by the Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate (ISF), one of the reasons too few women are compensated is that doctors’ attestations are incorrect or unclear when it comes to diagnosing pregnancy-related illness.

Half of the doctors’ attestations examined by ISF were wrong or had incomplete diagnoses codes.
