Freivalds to Kosovo.
Foreign Minister to hold two-days of talks in unstable region.
Foreign Minister Laila Freivalds heads to Kosovo today for talks with leaders in the volatile U.N.-run region. Freivalds is set to discuss the situation in Kosovo with local and U.N. officials and to meet with a leader of the Serb community during the two-day talks. Sweden has 330 soldiers deployed in Kosovo as part of the 18 thousand strong NATO-led peacekeeping force. Kosovo is holding general elections October 23rd and there are concerns that the region’s Serb minority will boycott the ballot, citing a lack of security.
