AIK Last Home Game To Be Played Without Supporters

Published fredag 22 oktober 2004 kl 13.18

It’s been confirmed that one of Sweden’s biggest football club’s, AIK of Stockholm, will play its last home game of the season behind closed doors, without any supporters.

The announcement was made by the club itself in the wake of last Monday’s riot in which a group of supporters tried to tear down fencing to storm the pitch. 26 molotov cocktails were found near the stadium and a police woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a bottle before the derby game with local rivals Hammarby.

The Swedish Football Association is expected to announce a similar penalty and a heavy fine.

This Sunday’s game against against Orgryte a must win fixture for AIK who face relegation from the top division.
