Sweden To Send Envoy To Eritrea?

Published fredag 29 oktober 2004 kl 14.00

The Swedish government is considering sending an envoy to Eritrea to protest against the imprisonment of Swedish-Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak.

He was arrested 3 years ago, and has not been in contact with his family since then, nor have they been told what he has been imprisoned for.

An official at the Eritrean consulate in Stockholm says that Isaak is in good health and that he will soon be put on trial. Eritrea has repeatedly rejected Swedish interest in Dawit Isaak’s case, saying that he is an Eritrean citizen.
