Danish Brewery to Cut Staff in Sweden

Published torsdag 4 november 2004 kl 16.09

A well-known Danish brewery reports that it is having trouble with its dwindling Swedish market – and has decided to replace its top man here as well as give 200 workers notice.

The falling sales are blamed on illegal beer imports and the Swede’s growing thirst for lower-priced beer abroad – bringing it back home over the Danish border or on the passenger ships coming from Finland and Estonia – turning their backs on the Danish beer stacked on the Swedish liquor store shelves.
