Swedish Hunter Chokes Eagle to Save Dog

Published torsdag 4 november 2004 kl 16.11

A Swedish hunter out with his dog after black wood grouse is not expected to be fined for killing an eagle – even though the bird of prey is on the protected species list.

The Swede claims the eagle swept out of the sky and caught his dog in its talons. Before the bird could lift again, the hunter leapt into action and grabbed it by the neck – both sprawled out in the snow. The man claims the eagle died with the dog still in its grasp – and only then could he let go – and liberate his 4-legged hunting partner.
