Garbage shipped from Italy to Sweden

Published torsdag 5 april 2012 kl 10.20

Garbage from Naples, Italy, will be transported to Sweden and burned at the district heating plant in Nynäshamn, about two hours south of Stockholm, Swedish Radio News reports.

But most of the garbage disposal system in Naples is run by the mafia. Energy company Fortum has enlisted the help of Italian police and several accountants to help make sure that mafia money doesn’t end up in Sweden.

According to Swedish Television, the first shipment of 6 000 tonne garbage will arrive shortly at the port in Nynäshamn.
