The trade union for construction workers, Byggnads, has prepared their members for a strike in support of the Commercial Employees Union if it fails to reach an agreement with the employers, represented by Svensk Handel, news agency TT reports.

The Commercial Employers Union is already threatening to take out over 400 members on strike. They are targeting large wholesalers and warehouse companies, which means the strike will affect other industries as well.

“It is obvious to us as construction workers that we should support our wives, girlfriends, daughters and friends in their struggle for a higher and more equal salary,” Byggnads representative Torbjörn Johansson, writes in a press release.

The strike will start on Friday the 13th, if the parties fail to reach an agreement.
