prosecution's case

Uppsala kidnapping trial starts

Published torsdag 12 april 2012 kl 13.10
Prosecutor Lars Hedvall arriving at the Uppsala district court.

Three people are on trial, suspected of abducting a 25-year-old Uppsala University student.

One of the defendants, a woman, is accused of going to the man's flat just before New Year's Day, and lacing his food with sleeping medicine.

The two men are accused of subsequently threatening the victim and transporting him to a house in northern Sweden, where he was kept for a week.

One of the accused admits helping, but sees his role as less serious, according to his lawyer. The other man, as well as the woman, maintain that they are innocent.
